I LOVE
In the northwestern Bosnian city of my youth, Prijedor, public space is heavily marked by freehand writing on walls and urban objects. At the time of the intervention, most of the graffiti was aimed at a specific individual or a very narrow group of people. The majority were about love – disappointment, infatuation or relationship anniversaries, apparently a widespread high-school trend.
By comparing the photos I took around the city, I noticed that the most common phrase is I love, which is a kind of counterweight to the other graffiti, mostly by football fans and with patriotic content.
The work contains 46 photographs that form a heart-shaped composition.
