Go big or go home project is about limits and valuation.
The starting question of the project was: How to fill a spacious exhibition space with minimal production conditions and limited creative time - as a reflection on the high systemic expectations, and the modest working conditions of many cultural workers.
In the first phase of the project, I located five dilapidated urban objects of larger dimensions and cut them up so that they fit the size of the trunk of a small city car. I then brought the dismembered objects to the exhibition space, which temporarily became my workshop. The cut objects were assembled on site into original shapes. The visible scars that arose during the process became a key element of the work, which I did not try to cover up (as artists do to hide any imperfection that is a result of production improvisation), but rather purposefully emphasized.
After the first public presentation, I cut the objects up again, this time so that they fit the size of a pallet for transporting goods.
At the second public presentation, I reassembled the objects into recognizable shapes and, if necessary, adjusted them to the size of the exhibition space, this time with even more visible scars (imperfections). After the second presentation, the pallets were replaced by wooden crates intended for the transport of artworks.
Worn-out everyday objects, which were treated beyond their functional nature, were repeatedly exhibited in art institutions. As a result, they gradually evolved into works of art - sculptures, which, in addition to their symbolic value, also brought them a higher material value. The series Go Big or Go Home thus critically and satirically questions the mechanisms of the system, while at the same time feeding on the system and existing exclusively within it.
The work is still in progress.
