WATERCOLORS
Through wordplay, the title of this work refers to the colors of the river in different seasons, or in different light and weather conditions.
The idea of the project was to document the traces that the river current leaves on concrete river banks in an urban space. For this purpose, I attached a subframe at a suitable location, half of which was submerged in water, while the other half remained above the surface. Then a canvas (30 × 30 cm) was installed over the sub-frame and left there for a month. Each month for twelve months, from April 2016 to March 2017, I installed a fresh canvas closing the cycle of the four seasons.
The result of the project is 12 abstract river prints that, on a conceptual level, deal with the discourse of time, process and repetition. Canvases with less organic content occurred in colder months while more saturated canvases were in water during warmer months. As can be seen, the result is not as harmonious as expected.
The work was made in Ljubljanica river.
