SPIN
The work deals with the so-called media spin. We’re seeing high levels of mistrust and feelings of insecurity fueled by impatient attitudes towards the media, progressive ideas, and social values that define the modern open society. Offensive rhetoric at the level of public discourse has become a part of everyday life. When the possibility of cultural dialogue fails, no matter which side you are on, you become only one side of the same coin.
I responded to the phenomenon by playing with current expressions and statements taken from public discourse. By intervening in selected words, I change the meanings of entire statements and thereby emphasize the symptoms of the current local political climate. Sentences with low rhetorical quality might sound bizarre out of context, but they are a reflection of the state of society at a certain time.
